Biography

Martin Shearman is an ambassador at the UK Mission to the United Nations responsible for development and human rights issues. Martin is a career diplomat and took up his current post in 2013. He previously served as British High Commissioner to Uganda, Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, and on diplomatic postings in Asia and Europe, including secondment to the NATO International Secretariat. In his current role he was deeply involved in negotiation of the Sustainable Development Goals, including supporting former Prime Minister Cameron’s chairmanship of the UN Secretary General’s High Level Panel on the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
