H.E. Sophalleth Eang is currently leading Cambodia’s policy efforts in scaling-up solar energy investment and strengthening renewable energy policy through his role in oversight of Cambodia’s National Council for Sustainable Development, as an Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Environment. In addition, H.E. Eang is currently working at the Cabinet of the Prime Minister of Cambodia as an assist and a spokesperson for the Prime Minister. At the Ministry of Environment, H.E. Eang is also in charge of media correspondence, environmental protection, environmental knowledge and information, and international cooperation. H.E. Eang was previously Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in charge of media correspondence, and the cabinet of the minister, and at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport in charge of international cooperation and UNESCAP. H.E. Eang, prior to joining the government, was involved in many business establishments, including co-founding Urata S.E. Cambodia Company Ltd., Paragon Corporation, Cambodian Construction Company Ltd., Cambodian Ceitheinie Company Ltd., and Malitech Inc. He held positions including: Technical Director and Managing Director for Cambodian Construction Company Ltd., Chairman and CEO of Paragon Corporation, and R&D Engineer for Bettis Canada Inc., Sigma Measurement Inc., and Malitech Inc. H.E. Eang is a Mechanical Engineer graduated from the University of Calgary, Canada, and a Civil Engineer graduated from the International University, Cambodia.
